Our story

Everything else got easy. A car in three taps. A room in any city. An answer to almost any question in a second.

Then a clinician goes to work, and it's still fax machines, hold music, and a claim that comes back denied for a reason nobody can explain.

I spent years inside one of the largest pharmacy benefit management companies in America, watching money move through healthcare. What I saw wasn't villainy. It was waste. Vast sums moving through vast systems, and very little of it reaching the room where care actually happens.

Healthcare has a glass wall. You can see straight through it. You can't walk through it. Contracts, codes, credentialing, hundreds of record systems that still don't talk to each other. Every one of those is somebody's full-time job. A large organization hires a floor of people to do them. A solo practice has evenings.

Almost every doctor I know works for a hospital. When I asked why, the answer was never the medicine. It was everything around the medicine.

Here's what changed.

The back office used to need a building. Now it fits in your pocket.

Everyone says AI is for everyone. Then they build it for whoever writes the biggest check. We went the other way. Solanto is built for one clinician, paid for by that clinician, and answerable to nobody else.

How we got here

  1. 2010s

    The inside.

    Years inside one of the largest pharmacy benefit management companies. The money was enormous. Very little of it reached the exam room.

  2. 2012

    Six in ten.

    Six in ten American doctors worked in a practice they owned.

  3. 2018

    Three giants try.

    Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan joined forces to fix healthcare for their own employees. They called it Haven.

  4. 2021

    Haven closes.

    Three of the most capable companies on earth, and the system didn't move. More money wasn't the answer.

  5. 2023

    Independence moves.

    More than 10,000 med spas, up from about 1,600 in 2010. Clinicians kept opening their own doors, even as the paperwork grew.

  6. 2024

    Fewer than half.

    Fewer than half of American doctors now work in a practice they own.

  7. 2026

    Solanto.

    The back office fits in a pocket. We start with the note, on the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch you already own.

What we believe

These aren't posters. They're the rules our software follows, written down before we wrote the code. When two of them disagree, the one higher on the list wins.

Three people, in every decision

  • The clinician is our customer.

    She pays us, so we answer to her. No ads. No pharma money. Nobody else paying for her attention.

  • Her team uses it every day.

    The front desk, the assistant, the partner down the hall. If it isn't simple for them, it isn't finished.

  • The patient is the reason.

    She never signs up. She never sees a settings screen. She's in every conversation Solanto hears, and she's the one we protect first.

Safety, before speed

  • The patient is safe before anything is fast.

    When protecting the patient and saving the clinician a minute pull in different directions, the patient wins. Every time.

  • The clinician decides.

    Solanto drafts. She reads, changes, and signs. Nothing leaves the room until she says so.

  • Write what was said. Nothing more.

    Solanto documents and assists. It doesn't diagnose, and it doesn't decide. When it's unsure, it says so instead of guessing well.

  • Calm over fast.

    We don't measure ourselves in patients per hour. We measure ourselves in whether you left at five.

Move fast, carefully

Silicon Valley taught a generation to move fast and break things. In a clinic, the thing that breaks is a person.

So we split every decision in two. If it can be undone, a new template, a better screen, a clearer word, we ship it this week. If it can't be undone, anything that touches how a patient's voice is heard, stored or written down, we slow down, test it, and release it in stages.

We keep a written register of every claim we make about Solanto and the evidence behind it. If a sentence isn't on that list, we don't say it. We'd rather be quiet than wrong.

Ambient AI is just the beginning

Today, Solanto listens and writes the note while you're with your patient, on the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch you already own.

That's the first rung of a longer ladder.
